Nuevitas, Juy 5.- In compliance with the instructions left by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Nuevitas thermoelectric plant is getting ready for the dismantling of metal structures and the demolition of civil parts of old generating units that are no longer in use.
The objective of these actions is to promote a better image of the plant and give other uses to these areas to promote a culture of detail at the business level in the country.
Likewise, it is expected to improve the generation in its blocks during the summer, in line with the planned maintenance in the primary industries of this type in the nation.
Workers from the Electrical and Mechanical workshops of the thermoelectric plant in Nuevitas worked throughout the weekend on the maintenance of unit number 5 of the plant to improve its water consumption standards, which demonstrates the commitment of this group to guarantee the stability of electricity generation at the plant.
The work also aims to repair a group of internal and external leaks in the boiler to return the machine to a power of 110 megawatts.
At the same time, voluntary work has been carried out to rescue the cleaning of said block ,and anticorrosive treatment actions are being done on the boiler structures.
Once block 5 of the Nuevitas thermoelectric plant is connected to the National Electroenergetic System, maintenance will be carried out on number 6, scheduled for the first half of July, to guarantee its operation during the summer at a maximum capacity of 120 megawatts.
The October 10 Thermoelectric Power Plant, founded on January 30, 1969, is one of the main industries devised by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, located in this municipality to the northeast of Camagüey.
