July, 2022.- "I have always liked my profession, and that is what has kept me working", stated Maritza Viñas Martínez, who belonged to the Third Contingent of the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Pedagogical Detachment in Sola.
She says that in response to the call of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, based on the need for teachers at that time in different educational centers, she began the task after finishing the tenth grade.
“I joined the English subject, where we received the preparation for a year, and then we worked as students and teachers at the exact time in different schools in Sola”.
Once she graduated, after a five-year career, she began working as a professor at the Mario Herrero Toscano Polytechnic Institute in Nuevitas and later accepted other positions such as head of the English Department, head of the Department of Humanities, and in 2005 as Teaching Secretary.
"I retired at the age of 60 but I returned to the same position."
The satisfaction of what has been to her so much commitment to the exercise of the teaching profession and her students makes her remember:
"I have maintained a good attitude at work and have received recognition from different instances."
Research is also an ingredient in their work:
"I participated in several editions of the Pedagogy event, as well as provincial conferences of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba."
Although Maritza Viñas Martínez let me know from the beginning that she did not want to be asked too many questions, the passion she harbored in her chest was visible on her face when she expressed:
“I will continue to fulfill the tasks that are assigned to me.”
