Nuevitas, 2025.- Solid waste collection in this Camagüey municipality is an exacerbated problem because of the lack of personnel, resources, and fuel.
According to Yamilé Ramírez Leiva, acting director of the Municipal Department of Communal Services, "from the five brigades required for the activity, three are available, but only two are active because several workers are sick".
She also specified that they have equipment rented from cooperatives and companies, and the entity's two tractors are being adapted for use in the sector.
The solid waste collection capacity in Nuevitas is below the population's demand; however, other measures are necessary, taking into account the complex epidemiological situation caused by the viral transmission of dengue.
