Nuevitas.- As part of the proposals of the fifth edition of the Versos al Salitre Poetry Festival held from June 20 to 22, the oral narration company, Clara Narration, delighted those who attended the staging of the play Galapagos and the storytellers.
At the Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda house of culture and directed by Leangel Lechuga Guerra, the locals revived the characters from the text written in 1983 by the Cuban Salvador Lemis.
According to Lechuga Guerra, they link new type theater with scenic narration to represent the play where grandmother Jicotea is dying and requires her grandson Galapago to bring her before dawn a little piece of blue sky, a drop of dew and a flower that never dies.
In what other settings have you presented the work?
The first time was in April at the local house of culture during the National Oral Narration Festival “Almacén de los Cuentos 2025”, and then in April at the fifth edition of the Provincial Amateur Theater “Entre Gestos y Palabras”.
What are the next projections?
"This week we intend to carry out directed performances at the schools of the territory, starting with those located in the popular council Número Uno- Tarafa- Pastelillo and we also want to take the students to Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
On the other hand, the company was invited to the International Festival Cuentos para una añeja ciudad - from July 15 to 20, which will also take place in the land of El Mayor -, there we will present the play Galapagos and the storytellers, in addition to the individual performance of the oral narrators".
What personal and professional satisfaction does each staging of the play offer you?
"After 20 years we returned to perform on stage, it was like breaking the ice and checking that we are fit to do it."
The fact that the performances are not only enjoyed by children, but by audiences of all age groups, is the main joy for the members of the Clara Narration Oral Narration Company, from Nuevitas.
