Nuevitas.- The call for the twelfth edition of the Dancing Street Festival in Cuba, to be held from July 23 to 27 in this Camagüey municipality, has been opened through the social network Facebook.
The opportunity is for dance amateurs between the ages of 12 and 17, and 18 and 25, who belong to the House of Culture System, and are advised by art instructors or professionals of this artistic manifestation.
The presentation requires three choreographies: Cuban popular rhythm, Afro-Cuban, and Latin, with a duration of two and a half to three minutes.
As usual, the program includes workshops, master classes, and competitions of dance couples and artistic dance units of provincial, national and international reference.
On this occasion, two new competitive modalities are proposed: casino dance couples El son de Cuba and dance improvisation Premio Dalia.
According to Arnol Romero Simón, the main manager of the project, the contest “has become a meeting point for representative figures of dance, dancers, choreographers and art lovers; who celebrate the diversity and richness of the existing dances in the country and their foreign influences”.
