Nuevitas, 2025.- The construction of a new bridge at kilometer 84,800 of the North Railroad Line will revitalize the Nuevitas - Santa Clara passenger train.

According to information published in the Cuban News Agency, the work being carried out by forces of the Base Business Units (UEB) Vías y Puentes Placetas and Sancti Spíritus, takes place where the landslide caused by heavy rains occurred on May 26, 2023.

It also specifies that the road connects the provinces of Villa Clara, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey.

Regarding the collective effort, the publication adds that “about 20 men, with the support of specialized equipment, are pushing forward the construction of the 12-meter long bridge, with two sessions of beams of six meters each and a much higher evacuation capacity”.

Once the viaduct is restored, the locals will have the joy of venturing again in the trips to Santa Clara by one of the oldest means of transportation; and which is a source of pride for Nuevitas for being one of the first cities in Cuba and Camagüey to have iron lines.
