Nuevitas, 2025.- In order to take advantage of the natural potential of this coastal municipality in northeastern Camagüey, detailed studies carried out by specialists led to the creation of the Tecno-Energy Project.
According to the Master of Science, Remberto Rodríguez Rivero, one of the managers, the purpose of the project is to generate electricity from the waves at La Boca beach, in the Santa Lucía beach resort.
“It would be located under the sea, in a strait where water forces are conducive to the movement of screws on both sides.
When there are tides, either incoming or outgoing, the end screw generates movement in the internal part of the system's rotor to emit electrical energy out to a substation that must have a battery to store this electricity,” said Rodríguez Rivero.
Initially, the benefits would be for the residents of La Boca and later extended to the national grid.
The proposal, conceived to generate up to five megawatts, was created by the collective made up of an oceanographer, and masters in Environment, Mathematics and Computer Science.
“The project has the feasibility calculation but depends on the financing by the Government for its fulfillment.”
On the other hand, Remberto specified that environmental protection was taken into account, so the materials and paint to be used for the manufacture of the equipment do not provide pollution to the environment.
Since its beginning in 2023, the idea has been shared by the authors at local, provincial, national and international events, and have received the support of other specialists.
