Dec, 2024.- As “an extraordinary opportunity” defined the Nuevitas doctor Bárbara María Reina Vargas, her presence -through digital platforms- in the International Scientific Conference held in Zimbabwe in the context of the Latin American Medicine Day.
The meeting was attended by collaborators who make up the brigade currently serving, heads of previous missions and doctors who had a great impact on the task, and authorities from the Ministries of Health of Zimbabwe and Cuba, and from Central Unit of Medical Collaboration.
“Many memories came back to me from that small African country, where I stayed for six years and served as head of the Cuban Medical Brigade; it was an incomparable experience.
We overcame many challenges, we learned, and we grew as human beings, revolutionaries and administrators”.
Reina Vargas also carried out international missions in Chad, in Africa; on two occasions, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and in the Federative Republic of Brazil, but specifies that “every nation and its people have their customs, and in the specific case of Zimbabwe, a country of very humble people, we received from them above all things great affection and recognition for our work, and love for Cuba and Fidel”.
Special congratulations on behalf of the people of Nuevitas, Cubans and the world to Barbara Maria Reina Vargas, to all the professionals who provide services in other latitudes and to those who study to become future health professionals.
