Oct, 2024.- Dr. César Alejandro García Valdés is one of the young people who, despite his distance from his home and family, maintains a good work recognized by the patients of California, a town in the municipality of Nuevitas where he made his debut as a doctor.
"I like to help people, that's why I studied medicine and have been practicing it for eight years," he said.
After graduating, he was placed in the health care premises 4, belonging to the Décimo Aniversario Polyclinic in Camalote, where he took care of the populations of California and La Berta, communities a little far from the San Miguel people's council.
"In 2017 I was relieved and returned to the health area of the Francisco Peña Peña of this city, where I studied the specialty of General Comprehensive Medicine.
When I graduated, I began to work in the family doctor’s office 13, located in the Number One neighborhood, and later in the ward for dengue patients at the Martín Chang Puga General Teaching Hospital, due to the increase in the number of cases of this disease”.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, García Valdés also stepped forward.
"As part of the Antivectorial Campaign, I was in charge of a brigade looking after the fumigation and vector control, and I was given the task of taking over the Respiratory Guard Corps, which was set up in the hospital to take care of the locals with respiratory problems, and to rule out the first positive cases in the municipality; I stayed there for a year”.
When he heard the news that the doctor who was in charge of the localities of California and La Berta could no longer provide services in the community, he requested the position, and it has been more than three years since his return.
"I feel good working there, everyone knows me."
Dr. César Alejandro García Valdés loves his work, that is why he does not care about customs, circumstances or comforts, helping those in need is his greatest satisfaction.
