Sept, 2024.- The Nuevitas’ House of Culture made a call to join the socio-cultural project Los Marineritos, an opportunity to bring together children with artistic talent in different manifestations.

According to Leangel Lechuga Guerra, director of the cultural branch in this Camagüey municipality, the event is scheduled for October 1st, at 4:00 p.m., at the Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda Cultural Center, for boys and girls preferably over four years of age, although no child will be excluded.

To know more about this attractive proposal, the head of culture in Nuevitas gave an interview.

- How did the Los Marineritos project arise?

This project emerged more than 20 years ago, under the direction of Clara Carrión Ríos, an art instructor, now deceased, but very well known in the House of Culture. Even many of us who manage the sector were part of that project and, taking into account her legacy, we decided to resume the initiative to pay tribute to her.

- What artistic manifestations will the project promote?

We want to focus on theater, although at times it could be combined with other art forms, music, dance, and visual arts.

- What are the infants' requirements?

We are not going to do tests to choose the children who know how to act; it may happen that some of them come from an art group under the guidance of an art instructor, but that is not the aim, there they will play at being actors, and through the game itself we will stage stagings and plays.

- What is the age limit?

There is no age limit, although it is not our intention to work with very young children, but if someone comes they will not be rejected; on the contrary, we will also work with them in some way and perhaps if they are very talented they can be part of some work or action that we do, but we will always keep them in mind.
