Sept, 2024.- The Festival de Muñequería 2024, held in this Camagüey municipality, was a celebration of colors and creativity in honor of the eleventh anniversary of the sociocultural project Artesanos del Cañón.
The winners were Marlene Labrada Montero, Francisca Ruiz Arias and Bárbara Emilia Ruiz González, with the dolls: clown Tin Tin, Francisca and witch Yamilet, respectively.
Collateral prizes were awarded by the DanzArte Project to artisan Nancy Castillo Pérez for Violeta; the Happy Pan Bakery to Marlene Labrada Montero for Tin Tin Clown; and the Chair of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda House of Culture to Francisca Ruiz Arias for Francisca.
Josefina Valdés Serrú, president of the jury, congratulated the nine artisans who presented 15 works, and the Chair of Intangible Cultural Heritage made a call to maintain and raise the popularization of artistic knowledge so that it can pass from one generation to the next.
The call for participation in the fifth edition of the Festival de Muñequería was open and scheduled for August 2025.
