July, 2024.- The 11th edition of the Dancing Street Festival in Cuba, sponsored by the Aires de Bahía socio-cultural project and the Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda House of Culture, will be held in this northeastern municipality of Camagüey from July 17 to 21.

“It is a gift for the beginning of summer to promote and revitalize national and international folk dances”, said the manager of the project, Arnol Romero Simón.

On this occasion, there will be several honorees, including the guaguanco group Los D' Leonel for its 60th anniversary, the Master of Science Reinaldo Angel Echemendía Estrada for 50 years of artistic life as a musician, folklorist, researcher and director of the Folkloric Ballet of Camagüey, and the Luis Casas Romero Vocational School of Art on its 45th anniversary and for being a source of artistic education in Camagüey.

Conferences, workshops, master classes and summer courses are the proposals for the daytime schedule, while the competitors’ presentations are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. at the Angel Alberto Martinez Sports Coliseum in this city.

The contest, which traditionally combines the existing cultures in Cuba, brings together couples from different provinces of the country, and the juries of previous editions have perceived the preparation and self-preparation of young people to defend through a choreography -of a maximum of three minutes- a work of high quality, stage presence, and artistic technical value.

Every July, the Nuevitas public looks forward to the Dancing Street Festival in Cuba, one of the most attractive proposals for the summer season.
