July, 2024.- One of the strengths of Pesca Nuevitas is the installation of technology that significantly improves the capacity of industrial processing and preservation of products.
According to the brigade leader of the Ice Plant in the entity, Leonardo Bermejo Berto, with the acquisition of the plant from China -producer of 10 tons per day in addition to the previous eight- it is expected not to equal previous periods in which they went to Santa Cruz del Sur and Camagüey to look for a way to guarantee freezing.
"We are also dispensing ice to the 26 de Julio Cement Factory to improve the setting of the concrete, and to the population".
The installation of the new plant was carried out by personnel from the fishing industry of this municipality and from the Local Development Projects GANEV and Aguas Nuevas, who also installed two large-capacity water tanks to use the liquid stored in the 500 cubic meter tank.
In order to save electricity, the equipment is turned off during peak hours, and when the service is affected, ice production does not suffer big consequences, because despite not having a generator, the refrigeration chamber guarantees good preservation.
Having two ice generating plants in the fishing industry of Nuevitas will guarantee the freezing chain of several items from the catch.
The main commitment of the local collective that works in the reception, conservation and processing of seafood products is to accomplish with medical diets, social consumption in educational and health institutions, sale to the population, and to increase economic income.
