June, 2024.- There are people who leave indelible marks on their colleagues, and in the case of Oromelio Rodríguez Salabarría, with the arrival of his retirement, I presume that he will be also missed by specimens of a very feared marine species in the world.

"My biggest motivation for diving is the direct exchange with sharks," he expressed a few years ago in an interview to this reporter.

Rodriguez Salabarria worked for more than three decades at the Marlin Santa Lucia Nautical Branch and assumed the responsibility of being in charge of the International Diving Center Shark's Friend.

Oromelio started as a bus driver at the center, later he joined exploration, became a certified Divemaster, Open Water, and also served as a brigade leader.

His main teaching while working with clients was to make them aware of the importance of respecting and caring for sharks.

Many images support Oromelio's love for the sea and the courage to feed sharks with his hands, while in each member of the Marlin Santa Lucia staff remain the teachings he transmitted every day.

Despite his retirement, Oromelio's passion for the sea and the species that inhabit it will always remain alive.
