May, 2024 .- "I am 75 years old and I still have spirit to continue working and contributing to the Cuban Revolution," said Roberto Arjona, who has an outstanding labor history.
"I am the founder of the Revolución de Octubre Chemical Company in Nuevitas, in 1975, where I spent 30 years as an air fractioning operator and oxygen and nitrogen production technician".
Other occupations were at the Territorial Division of the Cuba Oil Union, during 14 years; and after retirement, in order to stay physically active, he joined the Mental Health Department of the Francisco Peña Peña polyclinic in Nuevitas as a Security and Protection Agent.
His years of work are combined with art, and among his literary compositions stands out “La caída de un gigante”, a poem dedicated to the Apostle of the Cuban independence José Martí.
“When I was a child, I lived in Santiago de Cuba with my family, which had revolutionary principles, that is why patriotic blood runs through my veins; my great-grandfather was the teacher Manuel Muños Cedeño, he was the first to play the National Anthem", pointed out Roberto, regarding the origins of his feelings and convictions.
He advises the new generations to trust in the Revolution, and at the same time, it remembers the brave young assailants of Moncada and Playa Girón, achievements that treasure the local and national history.
In addition, Arjona participated in the sugar harvest, was an international cooperant in Nicaragua and, if necessary, is willing to do construction work, volunteer work and cultural activities.
Ricardo leads a sports club made up of 22 retirees from Revolución de Octubre Chemical Company. He also shares a passion for physical exercise and demonstrates every day that age is no impediment to make dreams come true.
