Nuevitas, July 28.- The Base Business Unit (UEB) of Local Industries in Nuevitas contributes to diversifying offers for both locals and companies that manage the acquisition of their creations.
María Olivares Ruiz, the Production technician, explained that with the use of wood they produce shoe racks, boards for bunk beds, shelves of different sizes for sale to the population, and agreements with the Carlos J. Finlay Medical Sciences Branch.
The chemical productions consist of liquid soap and the textile's facemasks, handles, bags, and toothpicks.
Olivares Ruiz specified how the locals obtain the elaborations in the store attached to the UEB, in the fairs on Saturdays, and through agreements with local entities and from other parts outside the local geography.
Likewise, they are immersed in the production of construction materials -blocks, beams, windows, and plateaus- which respond to the demands of Housing for the subsidies granted in the municipality.
During the pandemic, due to the new coronavirus, the productions of the Base Business Unit of New Local Industries contributed to the Provincial Company registering results that constitute a historical benchmark.
The essential items were for protection, cleaning, and disinfection, in addition to masks, washing and liquid soaps, and the preparation of five percent chlorine, with the support of members of the Federation of Cuban Women in Nuevitas.
Some of these products were transferred to the rest of the province of Camagüey, some other were sold to the locals and to centers such as the Tarafa port, the 26 de Julio cement factory, and the Martin Chang Puga general teaching hospital to facilitate the acquisition by the sale to the workers and thus avoid the agglomeration of people in the installation.
The Nuevitas Local Industries Base Business Unit has established agreements with the tourism sector in the Santa Lucía resort, which sometimes provide them with raw materials that they use with dedication and creativity for textile and wood confections, useful for homes and institutions. Therefore, they become options with great acceptance by customers.
