Nuevitas, November 25th - The workers of the Municipal Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology, in Nuevitas, celebrate the Latin American Medicine Day and the birthday of Gonzalo Esteban Lugo, name that the institution carries in homage to the martyr of this coastal city.
The reading of a brief biographical profile about the revolutionary hero, with the patriotic main actions developed by him during the fight for the freedom of Cuba and the commitment of the men and women of the center, to increase the inhabitants quality of life in this municipality, were some of the initiatives that marked the beginning of a series of events dedicated to the date.
In same way, an assessment about the tasks of the staff of that institution was offered by the Vice minister of health, Doctor in Sciences Luis Struh Rancaño, who classified as positive the work carried out by the personnel of the sector in the combat against the Aedes aegypti after a visit carried out to the municipality.
Nowadays, the Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Nuevitas shows the condition of "Moral Collective of Workers in the Labor Union", which is among the first three places at provincial level in the fraternal work achievement parameters for the July 26th.
The Latin American Medicine will be celebrated next December 3rd in Cuba, in coincidence also with the birthday of the Cuban doctor and scientist Carlos Juan Finlay, in 1833, discoverer of the agent transmitter of the yellow fever.
