Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 1.- The increase in pensions of amounts less than 500 pesos, as of the current month, will benefit 103 thousand 541 people in the province of Camagüey, with an amount of 30 million pesos more to the budget than it had already been approved.
Hortensia Montenegro Capote, director of the provincial subsidiary of the National Institute of Social Assistance and Security (INASS) in the territory, informed the ACN that with this increase the figure for pensioners by age, total disability, survival or service time rises to 490 million pesos.
With the aim that each retiree will receive the increase, she said, they worked initially to update the databases, to have all the people duly identified, and then the checkbooks were printed for those who don’t have a magnetic card yet.
Montenegro Capote indicated that it was necessary to reprint 63 thousand 203 checkbooks, which are already in all municipal subsidiaries, and in the case of Camagüey, the second municipality in the country with the largest number of beneficiaries with this measure, they began delivering last day 22 .
The process is going according to plan, valued the directive, while expressing the willingness of the entire INASS group to work until the last checkbook is delivered, an action that they intend to conclude on August 10.
For Montenegro Capote this increase received by pensioners from Camagüey and throughout the country is fair, because they need it and deserve it.
María de los Ángeles Lazada González, retired from the Communal sector, after 59 years of work, told the Cuban News Agency her joy for this measure, while recognizing the effort of the revolutionary government to reach a group of people who needed already of this increase.
She referred, in particular, to those who, due to their age, require medications and a specific diet that sometimes they cannot afford due to the cost of some products.
With an amount of her current pension of 340 pesos, which will increase to 385, Lazada González thanked on behalf of the families that benefit from the increase of pensions and salaries to the sector budgeted in Cuba.
